YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region to honor six at Women of Achievement Awards

Luncheon takes place Oct. 15 at Saginaw Valley State University.

YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region will honor six leaders from across the region during its Women of Achievement Awards luncheon.

The awards ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Curtiss Hall, Saginaw Valley State University. Tickets are $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight. Purchase tickets at https://www.facebook.com/ywcaglbr.

“Each of the women honored this year has been a powerful influence in our community. Their stories, achievements, and the inspiring examples they set for others truly deserve to be celebrated,” said Moira Branigan, YWCA executive director.

The awards honor women from the Great Lakes Bay Region who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer or professional activities and have made significant contributions in the categories of Business & Entrepreneurship, Civic & Nonprofit, Arts & Education, Healthcare, Social Justice & Advocacy, and Lifetime Achievement. The selection committee considered the depth, breadth, and quality of each nominee’s relevant activities.

The award recipients are:

    •    Marlana Cork, Civic & Nonprofit
    •    Dr. Lindsay Zeeb, Healthcare
    •    Brooke Beebe, Social Justice & Advocacy
    •    Susan Brasseur, Lifetime Achievement

This year, the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region will also honor a recent graduate of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Program for her post-graduation achievements.

YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region was founded in 1891 in Bay County and serves Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties. The organization is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, and dignity for all.
