Developing our Communities:
Corporate Citizenship

We are actively involved in building great communities where we live and work

Contributions and Volunteerism

Our Corporate Citizenship leadership team members and ambassadors manage company efforts, direct funding decisions, lead local community projects, and advance education in Saginaw, Midland, Bay, and Gratiot counties. Employees serve on several boards, donate significant time and raise money to support more than a hundred non-profit and community programs.

Community and Regional Empowerment (CARE) Fund

As part of our goal to improve the quality of life throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region, Hemlock Semiconductor Operation’s new Community and Regional Empowerment (CARE) Fund is providing up to $30,000 for local projects and programs. Schools, units of government and local groups with 501(c)(3) designation will be able to apply for grants through the Bay Area Community Foundation, Midland Area Community Foundation or Saginaw Community Foundation. Apply or learn more through your local community foundation:

Fire Academy Sponsorships

At HSC, we’re committed to safety for our employees, their families and our neighbors. To expand safety training in our community, HSC is offering Fire Academy Sponsorships to local fire departments to cover the cost of sending enrollees to local fire academies to receive their Michigan Firefighter I&II training. The grants are available to fire departments in Saginaw, Bay, Midland and Gratiot counties, with applications due by Nov. 9. HSC's Contribution Committee will be reviewing applications and awarding the grants. The application form is available here. Additional questions can be directed to HSC Safety and Emergency Services Team Leader Ryan Ludwick by calling HSC at (989) 301-5000.

Community Advisory Panel

As a member of the community, Hemlock Semiconductor believes open, two-way communication is an integral component in maintaining sustainable, environmentally responsible operations. The Hemlock Semiconductor Community Advisory Panel (CAP) provides a forum to address issues and opportunities affecting Hemlock Semiconductor, and the local community. The CAP consists of representatives from the community such as residents, business owners, educators, community and public safety leaders, plus management from HSC.

Community Connection Newsletter

We publish a newsletter for neighbors in the Great Lakes Bay Region with information about our employees’ engagement in the community, plus safety and environmental topics. In addition, we annually conduct an art contest for students in the Great Lakes Bay Region and publish a calendar featuring their work, along with safety information and tips.
